Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the standard YouTube thumbnail size?
- The recommended YouTube thumbnail dimensions are 1280x720 pixels with a minimum width of 640 pixels, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a file size under 2MB in JPG, PNG, or GIF format.
- Why is the Maximum Resolution thumbnail missing for some videos?
- YouTube only creates the maxresdefault.jpg file if the video is uploaded in at least 720p HD and the uploader submitted a 1280x720 custom graphic. For older or standard-def videos, YouTube provides the 640x480 hqdefault.jpg thumbnail.
- Can I download thumbnails from YouTube Shorts?
- Yes! Simply paste the Shorts link (e.g. youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID) and Doczing will automatically extract the video ID.
- What is the Safe Zone overlay?
- YouTube places a duration timestamp badge in the bottom-right corner and video titles over the top/bottom on mobile. Our safe zone overlay illustrates these zones so designers can avoid placing key text or faces behind them.
